ISLAMABAD:The 18th death anniversary of famous Punjabi film hero Sultan Rahi is being observed today (Thursday).The legendary actor Sultan Mohammad popularly known as Sultan Rahi was born in 1938 in Saharanpur India.He started his film career in 1959 as part time job in the film Baghi.
In 1975 he became an action icon for the lovers of Punjabi films. The year 1979 changed his whole life as his film Maula Jatt became the most successful Pakistani film to date.
It broke all records and did wonders for the Pakistani film industry.Sultan Rahi performed in over 750 Punjabi and Urdu language films. His extremely successful film career came to a tragic end on January 9,1996 when he was shot dead by unidentified armed persons in a highway robbery on GT Road near Gujranwala.
